Hi, everyone.

I've been wondering for some time now, how can I delete an empty page at the end of my document?

It's a Writer document which has both text and images, and consists of identical pages which I add one by one (it's a lesson plan document).

My document consists of 65 pages but instead, I have 66. The last one is blank, but I can't delete it so I can have the 65th page as my last one.

How is this done?

Many thanks.

workaround

I seem to have found a workaround to the issue.

After taking a look at older posts on the Web, it seems that after going to the

table at the bottom of the page and reducing the font in the last two lines

to 1, the last (empty) page is gone. After that, I deleted these rows from the table, so now it's OK. It would be useful, despite that, to know if that can be fixed in another more appropriate way.

Are you sure that there are no empty paragraphs at the end of document that were running over?  View> Nonprinting characters, CTRL+F10.

It was unchecked
Thanks for the answer.

I had unchecked that, so I think there can't have been any hidden non-print characters.

If it is unchecked you can

If it is unchecked you can have the characters and never know it.  Seen or not they are still there and will cause the creation of a "blank" page, which has one or more empty paragraphs.

That is the first thing I check went something like this happens.

Blank Page at end of document

I cannot get the blank page at the age of my document to disappear. It’s not a problem for printing, because I can print just the two relevant pages. If I want to upload my document, which is a resume, to a website, I cannot get rid of the blank page. I have tried altering the font size at the end of the document, and that does cause the last page to disappear; but, after I save the document, the font size for the last line goes back to what it was, and the blank page reappears. There are no hidden characters. Has this issue been addressed in some comprehensive way? I have tried reviewing other posts, and they are not helpful. I have tried everything and nothing addresses the problem permanently. I am also not going to post the document, as it contains sensitive information I do not wish to disseminate.

redact the document

Any document can be redacted relatively easily via a a few steps:

  1. Find and Replace textual content. Search for [.] Replace with [x] (the square brackets indicate the field) and ensure More Options > Regular expressions is checked. This should volumetrically keep the content, by turning all characters into a lowercase x.
  2. Remove hyperlinks. Edit > Select All > right click on selection and Remove Hyperlink This will vary according to your content i.e., you may not wish links to appear for privacy reasons.
  3. Set paragraph styles to Default. Edit > Select All > double click Default paragraph style1 Again, you may need / want to do this to make the content nature less clear. In the attached example I have done this so the content no longer includes the Preformatted Text, Table Contents, and Table Heading, paragraph styles, but rather uses the Default paragraph style throughout. You may also want to check your character styles.
  4. Blank personal meta information. You may also need / want to do this. One way to do this is to open the .odt with an archive manager and edit the meta.xml file and then rezip the edited file back into the archive.

These steps may need to be modified / customised / added to to suit your particular situation, but should allow a sample (non-disclosing) example to be uploaded for others to examine / troubleshoot. Without an example it can be difficult to determine exactly what is going on in a document.
DISCLAIMER: Please check your redacted document thoroughly prior to upload to ensure it does not contain any information you would rather not have disclosed. The burden of this part is on the poster. This should be obvious, but I felt I should state this just to be clear.

[1] This can be done on an individual style basis if desired via Search for [] Replace with [Default].

I want to send my file so someone can look at it and tell me what prevents me to delete the last page

Data outside page

Delete the last 3 lines of the Benediction and the last page will be deleted. The paragraph is too long and is into the next page.
