Printing Mail Labels
The body Of my message did not appear earlier. Sorry about that. I hope this one does appear.
I am a WordPerfect user, new to LibreOffice and do not know how to merge addresses/mail labels. I have a long list of typed addresses that I want to print on Avery 8163 labels. I hope that some patient soul will take the time to give me the step by step instructions for getting my addesses on Avery Labels using LibreOffice.
A few years ago I wrote a simple tutorial describing label creation. It undoubtedly contains some inaccuracies with regard to LibreOffice 3.3, but should be usable as a reference. If it would help you, I've temporarily made it available at:
It will not remain on-line for very long, so an acknowlegement that you have downloaded it, or decided that it is not relevant to you would be helpful.

What is you problem?
Formatting a table so it fits your labels?
Or getting the adresses from a database to the doc with the labels?
Peter,
Thank you very much for posting yout tutorial. It should be very helpful. I have downloaded it, but it will take be a while to absorb it. I appreciate your help very much.
Mash,
I am sorry to say that I have no experience in either formatting a table or making a data base. In WordPerfect all I had to do was select Format/Labels and then select the Avery Label mumber and the page was automatically formatted for those labels. After I copied & pasted the needed addresses to that page, they were ready to print.
Use from Main Menu:
File - New - Labels
A dialog appears. Select the first tab (if not automagically selecte) with the caption: "Labels"
Select nothing in the upper half of the box.
The lower half has "Format". Select "Brand" "Avery" and in the lower combobox the number of your avery labels.
Press <ENTER>
Use from Main Menu:
Format - Page
Select the tab labelled "page"
chose the paper format of your avery labels. Mine are "A4".
Press <ENTER>
Mash,
Those step-by-step instructions are very helpful. Thank you!
I got confused where it said, "Choose the paper format of your Avery labels." There is a small window there labelled "Format" but he choices it has available do not seem to be Avery sizes. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Assuming that I get the format correct, how do I get my pages of names & addresses there? In WordPerfect I would just copy & paste them there.
I did not receive an email notification either time you posted a reply. Did I miss checking a box or something?
See attached screenshot for formatting page. There should be lots of page formats available.
As for the notification.
Go to "my watched posts" on the top left side of this forum and then select "settings".
See screenshot.
And yes you can just copy and paste your addresses intothe cells.

m*sh,
Thank you for the additional helpful information. Your screenshot showed that I was looking at the wrong "format." Right under the drop-down menu where you have selected "A4" there is another place to "Format." Its default is showing as "None." That is where I was incorrectly trying to find the proper format to choose.
I did receive notification of yur post this time. Very good!
How can I add an attachment such as a screenshot to my post?
I appreciate your help.

m*sh,
I certainly do appreciate having this forum available. I would not know where to turn for help without it. So I do indeed appreciate the operator of this forum.
The fact is though, that it was you who took the time to help me and followed through to make sure I understood. Your modesty is becoming, and it is appreciated too.
